The Editing Room
Why work with me?
I’m a researcher at heart.
I have a Ph.D. in Bioengineering, so research, fact-checking, and tiny details are my happy place. I’ve authored peer-reviewed work in internationally recognized scientific journals and written award-winning grants. I also have policy experience and have been Congressionally recognized for my work, which means I’m just as comfortable translating complex ideas for non-expert audiences as I am digging into technical detail. If your book has science, medicine, or engineering woven into it, I can bring an extra set of trained eyes to those details. If it doesn’t, no worries. I edit across genres!
I’ve been a bookworm basically forever.
I read every book in my elementary school library and never really slowed down. In first grade, I won a national playwriting competition and got to watch a traveling theater group perform my play for my entire school. I even took extra English classes in high school and college for fun. Who does that? This girl. Years of reading across genres have given me a strong feel for storytelling, pacing, character development, and more.
I’m trained in the craft of editing.
My editorial training includes developmental editing through Liminal Pages and line and copy editing and proofreading through Poynter ACES, recognized names in professional editing education.
I’m an author, too.
I know what it’s like to hand someone a story you’ve poured yourself into. My own writing ranges from lighthearted rom-coms to gritty Christian romance, survival romance, and historical fiction, so I’m comfortable working with a wide range of genres, tones, and heavier subject matter.
I’ll be your professional hype girl.
I’ll celebrate the parts of your story that shine and give you thoughtful, practical suggestions for the parts that could be stronger. My goal is always to preserve your voice and intent. You’re in the driver’s seat. It’s your story, and I’m here to help you make it the best version it can be.
